MISSION STATEMENT

Camp Westminster exists to promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ to youth and adults by providing an exceptional summer camp and retreat experience.

CORE VALUES

Represent Christ

  • We will always be aware that we are representatives of Christ to the world. It is our goal that through our ministry, actions, and interactions, the world would see Jesus.

  • We will treat others the way we want to be treated: guest, coworkers, vendors –everyone. We will honor people as sent to us by God.

  • We will strive to use our resources, talents, and gifts to serve others with joy and intentionality whether they are our guests, co-workers, or community. We will aim to do ministry in a way that actively looks for opportunities to serve those around us and spread Christ's love.

Make it Better

  • We will intentionally strive to put forth our best effort in every task and improve continuously in all areas of our work.

  • If we see an opportunity to make our service or products better, we will approach the person responsible and bring our suggestion.

  • We will be confident in all areas of our work knowing that our efforts are honoring to Christ.

  • We will strive to be good stewards of the resources God has given us, much of it through the generosity of faithful donors, and use these resources to further the kingdom ministry.

Communicate

  • Our communication will bring good attention to the Gospel and we will strive to be genuine, hospitable, kind, and humble in every interaction.

  • When we fail, we should be quick to apologize and remedy the situation.

  • We will go directly to another team member to express concerns or offenses rather than expressing those to others. We will decline to listen to others’ complaints or criticisms about another team member, but will encourage conversation directly with the party involved.

Collaborate

  • We will recognize where others have skills and experience that will add value to our processes and welcome them in, as well as allow our skills to be used by others where value will be added.

  • We will communicate openly about work-in-progress to eliminate duplicating efforts.

  • We will keep our hands and minds open to new ideas, innovation and change, and will hold loosely the way we’ve always done it, as well as our ownership of the process.

CAMP HISTORY

Camp Westminster, a non-profit Christian camp, is the result of the vision of Dr. John R. Richardson.
In 1953, answering God’s irresistible call to establish a Christian camp, Dr.
Richardson, with the help of friends around the country, secured the deed
for 114 acres of heavily wooded land in Rockdale County near Conyers,
Georgia. At that time, Dr. Richardson served as Senior Pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church (P.C.A.) in Atlanta, GA.  Throughout the years, its members have
worked devotedly and prayed continuously to support and build Camp
into what it is today.  After a lifetime of ministry, Dr. Richardson went to be with the Lord
in November 1992 at the age of 91.

Camp Westminster bears witness to an outpouring of God’s richest blessings
on this ministry to young people during its years of service to Him. Many
young people have come to know Him as their personal Lord and Savior and
many more have dedicated their lives to full-time Christian service. Camp
Westminster’s leaders acknowledge that anything good that comes at camp
is a result of an outpouring of God’s grace and mercy.

The future of Camp Westminster is as bright as the promises of God. We
earnestly desire the prayer, support and partnership of Christian men and women to
enlarge His work and make it more effective in promoting the greater glory
of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is an exciting time to be involved with Camp as the
board, staff, alumni and supporters have a tremendous amount of enthusiasm for its
continual development.

It is our daily prayer that all who pass through the gates of Camp
Westminster will know more of God and be conformed to his character. It is
our earnest desire to point all to the saving, powerful, eternal sacrifice of our
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Statement of Faith

Statement of Faith

1. The Bible is the inspired Word of God, absolute in its authority, complete in it's revelation, final in its context, and without any errors in its teaching; the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments comprise the entire Holy Scriptures.

2. God is a spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in His being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth. God is One God, who reveals Himself in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

3. All men in their natural state are lost, alienated from God, spiritually dead and subject to God's wrath and condemnation.

4. Salvation is only by grace, a free gift of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins according to the Scriptures. His sacrificial death was a substitutionary atonement for the sins of all who receive him, providing redemption from the guilt, penalty, and power of sin.

5. Jesus Christ is the Son of God and Son of man, was born of a virgin, and is Himself very God. He lived a sinless life, was crucified, died, and was buried. The third day He arose from the dead and ascended into Heaven. Jesus Christ will come again to Earth the second time, personally, bodily, and visibly.

6. The Scriptures declare the deity and personality of the Holy Spirit, who indwells and works in the believer.

7. The Holy Trinity-consisting of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit-is the only divine being, and therefore is the only One worthy of our praise, worship, and devotion.

8. There is one holy, universal church, which is the body of Christ, and to which all true believers belong. The local, visible church is the means through which believers serve and are nourished through teaching and the sacraments.

9. Our Lord Jesus rose from the dead in the same body that was laid to rest in the tomb. The bodies of all believers who die will be raised from the dead and they will receive an incorruptible body and dwell with God in everlasting joy.

10. Christians, born of the Spirit, are to live the new life in the present power of the Spirit. The Christian's responsibility, and his normal attitude of life, is to yield himself to God, trusting God to keep him.
